The final SAYSO Public Workshop, named SAYSO-SmartResilience Joint Final Conference, was successfully held in Budapest on 15-17 April 2019.

The wide range of participants included civil protection practitioners from different horizons as well as industrial participants, academics, independent consultants and national or EU organisation advisors.

The conference was attended by 90 unique participants from 23 EU countries, Israel and the US over the course of the three days.

SAYSO presented the following results:

  • The SAYSO collection of EU practitioners' requirements;
  • The final version of the SAYSO specifications of Multi-Stakeholders Situational Awareness systems (MSSAS) matching the actual needs of civil protection practitioners and emergency responders identified by SAYSO;
  • The tools and handbook produced by SAYSO to support the future Pre-Commercial Procurement (PCP) of SAYSO compliant MSSAS systems;
  • The SAYSO recommendations for future system developments, including legal issues to take into account as well as standardisation gaps that need to be filled.

SAYSO also invited external speakers (such as JESIP, Magen David Adom, the City of Krems Fire Service etc.) as well as other EU projects (DAREnet and NO-FEAR) to help provide the audience with a comprehensive overview of the needs and current situation of EU Civil Protection practitioners and emergency responders.

The results were presented during plenary sessions (in front of the whole audience) and during SAYSO-specific parallel sessions among the four SAYSO sessions planned:

  • Understanding and addressing the needs of EU practitioners (SAYSO and external content);
  • Multi-Stakeholder and Cross-Border Challenges (external presenters only);
  • EU funded public procurement: PCP & PPI (SAYSO and external content);
  • Meeting requirements and addressing challenges for future system developments (five out of eight presentations from SAYSO).

A tradeshow and poster session also took place gathering 4 suppliers of Situational Awareness technologies, 11 EU projects and 1 UK project.
